Wilderness is made up by humans

Notes are a collection of my thoughts, ideas, and reflections. They are not polished articles. They are raw, unfiltered musings. Proceed at your own risk.

Wilderness is not Nature pristine. It is as much a product of human civilization as any and all of our technologies.

Metaphor and interpretation play a role in our current perception/conception of wilderness. Once, it was a place for Satan, for the savage and the wicked. Today, it is a a beautiful Garden of God’s other creations, a place of unaltered Nature for outdoor enthusiasts, tourists and athletes to enjoy and explore, and to cherish and protect.

Poor devil, he who can only find peace and solace when he travels to the far, remote wilderness, antithetical in every possible way to his regular urban dwelling. Peace, too, can be found amidst the parking lot.
